Report on the work of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic as of May, 31, 2018

In May 2018, courts of the Donetsk People’s Republic registered 7,835 court cases and materials.

As of May 31, 2018, courts of general jurisdiction have examined 30,845 court cases and materials, which constitutes 69,4% of the total number of cases and materials, including: 3,715 criminal cases and materials against 3,935 persons, of them 831 held in custody; 61 appeals against actions (omissions) by people holding an inquest, by inquiry bodies, investigators, heads of investigation departments, prosecutors; and appeals against orders to dismiss criminal complaint, to initiate and terminate a criminal case; 3,366 cases and materials on administrative offences.

Thus, in May 2018, courts of the Donetsk People's Republic examined 7,710 court cases and materials.

13,612 court cases and materials remain pending, which constitutes 30,6% of the total number of cases and materials registered, including: 3,896 criminal cases and materials against 4,786 persons, including 1,603 persons held in custody; 9 appeals against actions (omissions) by people holding an inquest, by inquiry bodies, investigators, heads of investigation departments, prosecutors; and appeals against orders to dismiss criminal complaint, to initiate and terminate a criminal case; 453 cases and materials on administrative offences.

As of May, 31, 2018 (for the period from January to May 2018), in the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic, there were pending 2,960 court cases and materials on the first, cassation and supervisory instances, including 1,070 criminal cases and materials; 58 cases and materials on administrative offences.

In May 2018, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic registered 420 court cases and materials.

For the period from January to May 2018, the Supreme Court has examined 2,357 cases and materials, which constitutes 79,6% of the total number of cases and materials, including: 819 criminal cases and materials; 54 cases and materials on administrative offences.

In May 2018, courts of the Donetsk People's Republic examined 517 court cases and materials.

As of May 31, 2018, there remain pending 603 court cases and materials or 20,4% of the total number of cases and materials, including: 251 criminal cases and materials; 4 cases and materials on administrative offences.

The above information gives grounds to recognize the organization of work on the administration of justice in the Republic as appropriate.
